Folio, four volumes (330 x 205 mm.), contemporary quarter calf, decorative paper boards, spines with raised bands, gilt ruled, compartments with central gilt feature and titles. With 5 engraved titles, 54 engraved portraits and plates (4 with extended margins), 3 folding maps (Chile with some facsimile repair), pp. 496, (23); 446, (16); 412, (20); 422, (22), worming in the margins repaired to small gathering in volume 3, 6 leaves in the same volume inserted from another example, otherwise in good condition.
