Henry C. Tunison was a publisher whose ‘Peerless Universal Atlas of the World’ was first published in 1885. Although undated this edition appears to date from c.1890. Provenance: manuscript notation inside front cover ‘T.R. Sargent Junr. Northfleet’; acquired from Nicolas in 2001 for the private collection of Rodney Shirley.

Small folio (355 x 300 mm.), contemporary publishers cloth binding with publisher’s details and map of the American continent embossed on both boards, rebacked with gilt and blind ruled bands, blue calf gilt title affixed. Pp. 207, pagination includes the maps, with engraved title, 10 plates and 70 maps in full wash colour and numerous illustrations in the text, table of contents with small margin tear repaired, in good condition.
