As well as the maps the book contains numerous coastal profiles contained within the text. Until this atlas appeared on the market the main supply of sea charts of the American waters came from the Low Countries. This landmark atlas provided the first wholly English sea atlas of the Americas. Considering the practical usage to which the majority of examples of this atlas would have been subjected the survival of an example in such pristine condition is all the more remarkable. Coolie Verner, The English Coast Pilot Facsimile.
