This little atlas by Pierre Du Val was intended for the pocket. The first edition was published in 1659; this is an example of the second. There were several further editions. Du Val was the son-in-law of Nicolas Sanson. Most of his publications are rare, this one appears to be particularly so. Pastoureau Duval X B; Pedley ‘The Map Trade in Paris 1650-1825’, in ‘Imago Mundi’ 33 pp. 33-45; refer Shirley BL T.Duv 7a.
