This is the smallest of the three county atlases produced by John Cary and was first published in 1790. It was described by Cary as being an abridgement of the ‘New and Correct Atlas’ of 1787. Octavo (185 x 120 mm.), full contemporary diced calf, with gilt borders, rebacked preserving the original spine with gilt bands and gilt title, worn. Engraved title, contents leaf, advertisement, general map and 42 county maps, that of Yorkshire folding with small tear at binding point as often the case and restored, all in early outline colour and very fresh. At the back are 16 pages of Index and Routes followed by four pages of adverts for Cary’s products.
