The first edition of this work appears to be in 1849. The atlas is undated, however the latest date found internally is 1869. Antoine Philippe Houze (1820-88) was a publisher in Paris whose cartographic output appears to be quite limited. Provenance: in manuscript on free endpaper ‘E. H. Carter, (from his friend & tutor Canon Jessop, Jesus Coll. Camb., Mich. Term. 1897’; acquired from Postaprint 1997 for the private collection of Rodney Shirley.
