Edward Quin (1794-828) was an English historian who published this first edition of the ‘Historical Atlas’ in 1830. Further issues continued until c.1856. All of the maps engraved by Sidney Hall. The maps cover the period 2348 BC – 1828 AD and are drawn with sequential unfolding of dense black cloud like outer surround. A most appealing finish. Provenance: bookplate of Arthur Saltmarshe pasted inside front cover; Anthony Neville 1990; private English collection. Refer Phillips 4139 for the later 1836 edition; Tooley’s ‘Dictionary’ (apparently citing incorrectly the first edition as 1828).
