The first edition of this atlas was in 1762 and it included maps by various cartographers including Rigobert Bonne, Jean Denis Janvier and Rizzi-Zannoni. The maps are all of an attractive quarto size with appealing colour. Over the years the atlas came to be issued in various formats in terms of quantity of maps. In this example with 40 of 41 maps there is a pencil note in French stating that it lacks the first map of France, otherwise complete. The earliest dated map is 1771 and the latest 1787 appears on three maps; Languedoc, Scotland and Persia. Tooley’s D.
