In 1761 Thomas Jefferys published ‘A Description of the Maritime Parts of France’ complete with a series of charts of the French coastline. In the same year this reduction in French was published. ‘Le Petit Neptune Francois” consists of 30 maps and charts and 3 further plates of coastal profiles. It is interesting to note that in the preliminary ‘Advertisement’ to the work he cites Blaeu’s ‘Petit Flambeau’ as one of his sources which had sold more than 91,000 copies! This work by Jefferys was however nowhere near as successful and is quite uncommon today. Shirley ‘Atlases in the British Library’ M.Jef 2a.
