This is the smallest of the three county atlases produced by John Cary. It was described by Cary as being an abridgment of the ‘New and Correct Atlas’ of 1787. It was first published in 1790 and according to Fordham this is the third edition. For this issue the title is corrected and all the maps bear the date 1806. Most pleasingly the maps are now printed on one side of the paper only. A FABULOUS EXAMPLE of this atlas. Provenance: private English collection. Chubb (1927) no. 276; Fordham (1925) pp. 35-8.
