The ‘Reynolds’ Travelling Atlas of England’ was first published in 1848 by James Reynold (fl. 1848-60). The maps were all engraved by John Emslie. From 1860 Reynolds used these maps for a ‘Geological Atlas of Great Britain’ adding to each county coloured geological delineations. The atlas was also expanded with a geological map of Scotland. An example of the only dated edition of Reynold’s ‘Geological Atlas’. James Reynold’s senior died in 1876 and was succeeded by his son. Beresiner pp. 183-6.
