An exceedingly rare English maritime atlas surviving in only one other traceable example in the Beineke Library at Yale (1974 Folio 4), no other edition is recorded. It was published by the short-lived partnership of Jeremiah Seller (fl.1699-1705) and Charles Price (1679?-1733). Jeremiah Seller was the younger son of John Seller Snr. and brother to John Seller Jnr. He was a mapseller, instrument-maker, publisher, and Hydrographer to the Queen. Following his father’s death in 1697, Jeremiah continued the business in partnership with his mother Elizabeth Seller. They went into partnership with Charles Price from about 1699. Price similarly was a mapseller, engraver, globe and instrument maker. He had been apprenticed to John Seller Snr in 1694 and witnessed his will. Together they produced ‘The Fifth Part of the General English Pilot … West Coast of Africa’ in 1701 continuing John Seller’s project. ‘The Fourth Part of the General English Pilot. Describing … the East Coast of America’ followed in 1703 which survives in only one example in the Newberry Library. Tyacke reproduces a catalogue of works available by them which offers this atlas in formats of 100 charts, 50, and 20.

In 1704 they published ‘The English Neptune, or a new Sea Atlas’. It was first advertised in the ‘Post Man’ issue for 20-22 January 1704. The title goes on to state that it includes ‘the nature and property of Trade Winds and Monsoons in all the known parts of the World’. It also bears an engraving of ship keyed to identifications of the parts of a ship. Its lack of success may well have been due to complaints made about the quality of their instruments and they lost a valuable contract at the Admiralty. Only two examples of this atlas are known to have survived. The Yale example includes 29 maps, here there are just 16. Shortly after they were forced into bankruptcy.

This example comprises:
1. SELLER, Jeremiah and PRICE, Charles Sr. ‘A New Generall Chart of Ye Northern Ocean vitz Norway, Greenland, Finmark, Lapland, Moscovy and Nova Zembla’.
2. SELLER, Jeremiah and PRICE, Charles Sr. ‘A New Chart of the Channell between England and France’.
