A remarkably detailed chart of the Dardanelles. This region has long held immense strategic importance. It connects the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Sea of Marmara and through the Bosporus to the Black Sea. It separates the Europe continent from that of Asia. At the western entrance stood the ancient city of Troy and the Trojan Wars were fought on the Asian shore. A large inset extends the coverage further north. Complete with a pasted on piece to include the western entrance. This was of course also the scene of the bitter Gallipoli Campaign of 1915.
