This map was published in Cassini’s very rare three volume ‘Nuovo Atlante Geografico Universale’ 1792-1801 published in Rome by the Calcografia Camerale and appeared in the second volume dated 1797. Cassini (1745-c.1824) was a painter and engraver in Rome, this arguably being his finest publication. This map covers southern Africa incorporating Madagascar. Phillips Atlases 670.
