From the fifth volume of the ‘Description de L’Univers’ published in Paris. Only two towns are noted; ‘Jamestowne’ and the Indian village of ‘Pomejok’. The only colony other than Virginia recognised is ‘Mariland’. This is one of the largest scaled maps of North America in the work, and as such notes a reasonable amount of geographic detail in terms of rivers and bays. Pastoureau (1984) pp. 309-11, Mallet IA no. 632.
