First edition. The date of issue is taken from the plates which vary between 1820 and 1822. This work is rare and not recorded in the usual bibliographies. The plates are marked proof and are drawn and etched by Dennis, engraved by William Ward, Chalres Turner, William Say and others and bear a marked resemblence to the plates in J. M. W. Turner’s ‘Liber Studiorum’, also engraved by Charles Turner. Provenance: Maria Dennis, signature on front free endpaper (possibly the author’s daughter?); Bloomsbury 20 August 2009 lot 214.
