The most successful of the publishers of view books relating to the Isle of Wight was George Brannon. Aided by his family he was artist, engraver and publisher operating from Wootton Common on the island. The ‘Vectis Scenery’ was his first work published in Southampton in 1825, this example was published the following year. Anderson p. 121; Russell pp. 135-6.

Small oblong folio (245 x 305 mm.), in early quarter calf with marbled paper boards, lightly worn. With original publishers title label with price pasted to upper cover. With typographic title page, early wash colour map and 37 fine engravings with one or two margin tears, pp. 42, (2). With some water staining to the back, complete with original tissues, otherwise in good condition.
