In 1663 Joan Blaeu published as the third volume of his town atlas a work entitled ‘Theatrum Civitatum nec non admirandorum Neapolis et Siciliae Regnorum’. This bird’s-eye plan of Valletta and its harbour was included. The depiction is drawn ultimately from that of d’Aleccio in 1582 but more likely directly from the version by Lucini in 1631 as there are similar errors in transcription. A key at the bottom, identifies 57 locations. In 1704 Pierre Mortier (1661-1711) published his own edition of the work for which the title was altered to the above. His imprint was added lower right along with the pagination ’35’.
