John Pinkerton (1758-1826) was born in Edinburgh but moved to London in 1781. He was the publisher of several works on geography and cartography but his largest atlas was the ‘Modern Atlas’ of 1815. This fine map of the south east is dominated by Georgia still displayed extending to the Mississippi River. The new states of Kentucky and Tennessee are shown too. Phillips 724.
