Heinrich Scherer was professor of mathematics at Munich and a devout Jesuit. His seven-part “Atlas Novus” was finely engraved by several named artists including Johann Degler and Josef a Montalegre from Nuremberg and Leonhard Henckenauer. This particular map of the world is derived from one by Joseph Moxon or London. Shirley “Atlases in BL” T.Sher 1a.
