This very rare map is engraved by William Harrison and published in the ‘Bengal Atlas’ by James Rennell. First published in 1780 with just 13 maps, few examples of this first edition survive as the main consignment to India was captured by the Spanish en route. Some of the manuscripts and copperplates survive to this day in the India Office. This particular map was introduced in to the atlas in the second edition of 1781. The map depicts the region of Assam. Shirley (BL) T.Renn 1f no. 15.
