The dating of maps by the Visscher family is very hard but bearing the privilege granted in 1677 and by the style we can ascribe a date to approximately 1680. The map depicts the English Channel extending from the Straits of Dover to the tips of Cornwall and Brittany. This edition is the second state published by Pieter Schenck bearing his imprint. Koeman (1967-70) III pp. 107-150-84 no. 209; Tooley’s Dictionary.
