A reduced example of the FIRST GEOLOGICAL MAP OF FRANCE issued in the same year. Pierre Armand Dufrenoy (1792-1857) was a French geologist who studied in Britain in the 1820s. He worked Beaumont on a geological survey of France between 1825 and 1836. The results were published in six-sheets in 1841. This is an official reduction of that important map. Provenance: with manuscript ownership inscription on the verso of ‘Willm. Atkinson 1855’, also ‘K. C. Harris, Eastcote Middx 1947′, printed names of A. M. Lambert and Harold W.
