John Rocque was a Huguenot who at an early age settled in England. By 1734 he was a surveyor, engraver and publisher. One of his most important English county contributions was a series of maps first published in the ‘English Traveller’, 1746. This is extremely rare and was followed by their inclusion in ‘The Small British Atlas’, 1753. This example is from the latter work. Hodson 203.
