Smith's New Map of England and Wales with Part of Scotland

1140 x 690 mm., in early full wash colour with wash to the border, cut, dissected and laid on contemporary linen, marbled endpapers, complete with contemporary slipcase with manuscript title, lightly toned, small wormhole, otherwise in good condition.
A fine large-scale map of England and Wales drawn at about 7.5 miles to the inch which includes the turnpike, principal cross roads, rivers and navigable canals. The distance from every market town to London is also given. Later editions were published up to at least 1827. Provenance: Lesley Aitchison 2006; private collection of Rodney Shirley.
