A beautifully engraved map by Baptista Doeticum of Provence in southern France. From a Latin edition of the ‘Atlas Sive Cosmographicae’ published in Amsterdam. This atlas was the continuation of Gerard Mercator’s great atlas begun in 1585. The map is drawn from Pierre-Jean Bompar’s separately published map of the region from 1591.
