An unidentified plan of the city of Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan. The printing process is lithographic and it appears to have been issued c.1842 as it relates to the disastrous British pull out from the city. A note to the south west of the city states “H.d. Q.rs Aug.t 1839”. It is an accurate survey showing the contours and numerous local details. It is derived from the original plan drawn by Lewis Herbert on behalf of the Quarter Master General’s Office and published in 1842.
