Henri Sbonski de Passebon was a lieutenant of marines on board a galley in the service of King Louis XIV. The beautiful richly engraved plates of the ships of the French Royal Navy are mostly depicted in Mediterranean seascapes and ports. This is the ornate title page to the work published in Paris 1690 under the title ‘Plan de Plusieurs Batimens de Mer’.
