This map was published in the first edition of Abraham Ortelius’ Theatrum Orbis Terrarum’ in 1570, the first modern atlas. This example was issued in the German text edition of 1580 with the pagination 85 on the verso. It is derived from Giacomo Gastaldi’s fabulous map entitled ‘Asia Minor’ published in 1564 and Ortelius’ own wall map of Asia, 1567. Ala’i, Cyrus.
