Jules-Abel Faivre (1867-1945) was born in Lyon, France. A member of the Societe des Artistes Francais he is most famous for his propoganda posters for the French Army during the First World War such as this one. He also worked for some of the most successful magazines of the day such as Le Figaro. This image depicts a French soldier holding a gun whilst urging his comrades on. It became one of the most recognised French posters of the war. The translation of the title reads ‘We’ll get them! The 2nd National Defence Loan. Subscribe’.
