The firm of C. Steen and Son were publishers in Copenhagen. Christian Steen (1786-1861) was the founder of the firm acquiring the bankrupt company of his previous employer in 1810. He specialised in maps and children’s publications. He also wholesaled paper. In 1846 he was joined by his son, Hans Christian Frederick Steen (1819-71) in partnership and the firm became known as C. Steen & Son. The plan was known to have been issued in 1829 with a grid which is here erased. No record of this state could be identified. It does not refer to the son in the imprint below. This map possibly comes from the ‘Atlas over Danmark’ published 1856-66. Tooley’s Dictionary (1999-2004).
