John Pinkerton (1758-1826) was born in Edinburgh but moved to London in 1781. He was the publisher of several works on geography and cartography but his largest atlas was the ‘Modern Atlas’ of 1815. This map shows northern Africa excluding Egypt. There is little details to be shown in the desert. Phillips 724.
