A new edition of Jacques Ozanam’s classic work surveying which was one of several works on mathematics he published. The first version was issued in 1693. Ozanam was a great professor of mathematics and physics in Lyon and Paris, and a member of the Academy of Sciences. A highly rated book on surveying it describes how to create maps and survey land, with and without the use of technical instruments. He even details how to go about identifying the best location for mapping, the use of all necessary tools, and how to use geometry to create plans buildings. This edition is extra illustrated with sixteen engraved plates depicting equipment and their use amongst others. Much of the work is devoted to the preparation of nautical charts.
