The second issue of the same year as the first with the addition of N. L. Kentish to the title. The Greenwood brothers, with the marketing skills of George Pringle and son, enjoyed immediate success with their series of large scale surveys of many English counties. They offered an up-to-date record of the landscape at a time of rapid change. Their surveys utilised the the system of triangulation adopted by Col. Mudge and his surveyors of the Ordnance Survey. Greenwood’s charge was normally doubled for examples in full wash colour and laid on linen such as this example, the result is clear to see why. Complete with contemporary box. Rodger 175
