The FIRST EDITION of Walker’s large scale map of the British Isles highlighting the transportation networks available. With an attractive florid engraved title upper right, an inset upper left includes the Orkney and Shetland Islands, a smaller one lower left highlights the Channel Islands. Next to this is an Explanation. Here it states that the mileage’s posted by the towns reflect the distances from London or Edinburgh if in Scotland and Dublin if in Ireland. There is one later edition recorded of 1854. Provenance: Roger Baynton-Williams 1985; private collection of Rodney Shirley. British Library Maps 1080.(14.).
