A superb map of the Prussian Empire which takes in present day Poland and Lithuania including Kaliningrad (Konigsberg). The coastline extends west to beyond Danzig. Beautifully engraved by the master Dutch engravers of the day it illustrates in an uncluttered manner a rich tapestry of topographical detail. The ornate title cartouche and nearby key held aloft by putti are exquisitely coloured by a master Dutch colourist reminiscent of van Santen. The dating of maps by the Visscher family is very hard but bearing the privilege granted in 1677 we can estimate the date of issue at approximately 1690.
