Louis Tessier (1719-81) was a designer and painter of floral pictures. He worked for the famous firm of Gobelins, manufacturers of fine tapestry to the King of France. He was also and engraver of similar material for various works and on occasion styled himself “Pientre du Roi pour les fleurs”. This plate is from ‘Livre de Corbeilles et Vases de Fleurs’.
