Francesco Constantino Marmocchi (1805-58) was an Itlaian geographer based in Florence. In 1838 he published the ‘Atlante di Geograpfica-Storica Universale’ which was reissued in 1840. It is not apparently recorded that the plates utilised for this lithographic work were first published by Vincenzo Pazzini Carli (1707-1769) and sons in the ‘Atlante Geografico’ published in Siena between 1788 and 1800. For this issue, the title is entirely new although similarly worded. Beneath it is the flag of an Admiral and a key to the 12 Welsh counties. Provenance: Doreen Green 2001; private English collection. Not in Booth (1977); not in Cremonini (1991); not in Evans (1964); not in Roberts (1994) see [22]; Tooley’s Dictionary (1999-2004); not in Valerio (1988) see no. 9.
