This important map is of the region between James Bay at the top and Montreal lower right. In between it takes in Lake Mistassini (Lac Mistassine) and Lake Huron. It is from the ‘Atlante Novissimo’ by Zatta (fl.1775-97) which was a four volume work of the world. This is one of twelve sheets which can be placed together to form a version of Mitchell’s landmark map of North America, 1755. This edition bears a few more annotations not found in the English version. Towns, roads, rivers, and mountains are detailed. The boundary of the Six Nations is clearly identified Kershaw 981.
