Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717-77) was an engraver active from the 1740s to his death in Augsburg, Germany. He worked with Georg Mattheus Seutter (1678-c.1757) and married his daughter in 1740, eventually succeeding to the firm in 1756 in partnership with Seutter’s son-in-law Georg Balthasar Probst. This attractive map of the British Isles is dated 1764 in the engravers’ imprint lower right. No earlier issues is noted and it does not appear in Rodney Shirley’s Opus on maps of the British Isles.
