A fine map of the Greek island of Chios engraved by Natale Bonifacio (1538-92) whose initials are found lower right. He first worked in Venice before moving to Rome and eventually Antwerp. Orientated with northwest at the top if illustrates a detailed birds-eye view of the capital. The cartography is derived from an unknown source. Bifolco & Ronca state that it is sometimes found in the ‘Civitatum Aliquot Insigniorum’ by Ferrando Bertelli published around 1568 in Venice. A second edition from which this appears to be from was published by Donato Bertelli in 1574. Bifolco & Ronca (2018) II Tav. 704; Zacharakis (1992) 215.
