Heinrich Scherer was professor of mathematics at Munich and a devout Jesuit. His seven-part “Atlas Novus” was finely engraved by several named artists including Johann Degler and Josef a Montalegre from Nuremberg and Leonhard Henckenauer. This particular map focuses on Central Europe and extends from Passau lower left to Dresden upper left. Prague is central with Cracau in the east. With an ornate title cartouche. Shirley ‘Atlases in BL’ T.Sher 1a.
