Cartographic playing cards have always been very rare. Here we offer an example of the rarer first state of Hertfordshire, the eight of hearts. This is identified by the lack of neighbouring counties being named. It was first advertised in the Term Catalogues for Easter Term 1676, and sold by Morden, William Berry, Robert Greene and George Minikin. Hodson 14; Skelton 94; MCS. 87 p.26 3.1.
