A fabulous chart of the harbour of Tallinn in present day Estonia. Here it goes by its ancient name of Revel by which it has been known since the Danish conquest of 1219. Its origin is the Latin name for the region Revala. Following independence in 1918 it was renamed to Tallinn. It was an important port in the nineteenth century and prospered under the industrial development occurring. There is a great deal of topographical detail of the surrounding coastline and the town is laid out in some detail. Two prospects of the town can be seen on the left side.
