Henri Sbonski de Passebon (1637-1705) was the son of Jean-Francois Sbonski de Passebon, Duc de Bouillon who was Marshall of the Royal Camps and Armies and Prevost of the French province of Haut et Bas Limousin. Henri was a lieutenant of marines on board a galley in the service of King Louis XIV for much of his life. The beautiful richly engraved plates of the ships of the French Royal Navy are mostly depicted in Mediterranean seascapes and ports. The work was published in Paris, c.1690, under the title ‘Plan de Plusieurs Batimens de Mer’.
