The title indicates that the map of the Caspian Sea is drawn from sources at the Academy of Science at St. Petersbourg. Many of d’Anville’s atlases are untitled collections of maps, an example including this map can be found in the British Library. D’Anville died in 1782 aged 84 having led an active life cartographically.
