This map was first published in 1880 by Samuel Augustus Mitchell in the ‘New General Atlas’. There is evidence to suggest that Mitchell wasn’t in fact either a cartographer or engraver, his role is more that of an editor. The chief cartographer and engraver of Mitchell’s publications is James H Young. This map is the FIRST STATE of a new one centred on Utah and Nevada.
