A superb map of Florida extending westwards to St. Joseph Bay. With the official seal of the Depot de la Marine lower centre. Antoine de Sartine (1729-1801) was the French Naval Secretary who compiled these maps for the use of the French Navy during the American Revolution. Issued separately at first it was later included in the ‘Neptune America-Septentrional’ in 1780. The size affords a great scale enabling fine detail of bays, inlets, islands, keys, rocks and shoals along the coast and inland the locations of largely native villages, towns and forts. The map extends south to the Cuban coast illustrating the important Bahama Channel. Schwartz & Ehrenberg (1980) p. 202; Sellers & Van Ee (1981) 1621.
