This map published by Pierre Mortier was originally by Eugene Henri Fricx (1644-1730) in 1712. He is best known for his maps of the military campaigns of the War of the Spanish Succession 1701-14. He was a bookseller and publisher in Brussels. It formed one sheet of a 24 sheet map “Table des cartes des Pays Bas et des Frontieres de France”. This example by Mortier is according to the title one of 18 sheets. A rare map of Kent. Engraved by Harrewyn. Tooley’s Dictionary of Mapmakers. Koeman II pp. 109-10.
