This attractive map of the Russian Empire extends from Finland to Siberia and Tartary. The east coast near Terre d’ Eso d’Yeco is depicted via faint engraved lines and there is no Kamchatka Peninsula. Novya Zembla is displayed connected to mainland Russia. Witsen’s mountainous peninsula is shown by the Arctic Circle, with an unknown eastern coastline. Either side of the map are panels with extensive textual descriptions and historical notes.
